Seagull and Beach at Dusk

St Kilda

The local beaches here in Dunedin really do seem to get the best and worst of the weather systems that hit the New Zealand coastline. On a fine, clear, warm evening there can be no better place to be as the sun drops from view and the twilight hours take hold. However, when I southernly storm front travels up the coastline bring wind, snow, hail, freezing temperatures and massive swells it’s the last place you’d want to be. This was one of those evenings when time seemed to stand still until the occasional cry from a circling seagull seemed to suggest that it was time to move on.

So this is me at the moment: I’m really enjoying exploring images that represent a place and time and hint at a human presence at the moment. Personally, I think that by capturing representations of human life that show the passing of time, it gives me a stronger inner connection to my own memories but it also allows me to connect and make sense of the world around me.
